 Just for interest the correspondance:

The current situation:

Hello dear Conrad,

Now that we have Daisy, we have to start negotiations in to her safe return to yourself, unharmed. We understand how much you are missing her and would love to return her so the starting price is £100 which we feel is a small amount to ask for such a dear companion. BE WARNED FOR VERYDAY THAT PASSES FROM TODAY 6/12/2000 THEN £10 WILL BE ADDED TO THE RANSOM. FAILURE TO COUGH UP BY THE TIME THAT THE PRICE REACHES £200 THEN DAISIES CONDITION MAY BECOME CRITICAL IF YOU CATCH MY DRIFT! Love and kisses Conrad, i don't think Daisy would like to become a turkey's equivalent this Christmas. DNUKxxx

The first letter:

Dear Conrad

We are the duck-napping society of North Wales, and prowl the towns and villages looking exactly for targets like your poor daisy. Once spotted, neglected in a corner somewhere - we swoop - and another duck bites the dust!! This is mainly down to your cruel treatment of her, and she wil be much better off living with other poor victims of duck abuse in that great big duckpond in the sky. We are, however, prepared to enter into negotiations for the safe release of your pet. The price for her release, though, as you might imagine, will be substantial. Please contact us by the return of email - or we will be forced to show you we mean business!!

Yours sincerely The Llangollen branch of DNUK.

The first reply:

Dear The Llangollen branch of DNUK.

I hope to you feel satisfied, due to your callous actions Daisy has missed out on the trip to the Tees this weekend, which she has been looking forward to all term. She is a very adventurous duck, and it is very cruel of you to deny her her freedom. These are very serious crimes you have committed, but in the interests of Daisy's safety, I can assure you that if you just return her to my address, the matter will go no further. My address is; *********** *********** *********** ***********

Thank you, Conrad.
